Presentation Tools BESIDES PowerPoint!

Photos and Slideshows

Click the titles to go to the site; click the images to see examples.

AndreaMosaic is a free site

you use to create digital art

using your own images. The

photo mosaic can be used alone for a cool

cover page or display, or it could be used within a slide show or video.

A great tool for storytelling!

Insert pictures and narrate

over them using your own

voices recorded by phone.

It's easy, and it's free.

Use this site to create a

slideshow with built in

transitions. Simply upload

photos, pick a soundtrack;

you can even email or embed it.

A great way to share your

slideshows from ANY

computer!  Just upload it, and it's always there for you. Easy peasy!

Like Narrables, Yodio allows

you to record over your photos,

but this one will allow users to

reply.  If that feature would be

useful to you, you may prefer

this tool.  This is an especially

nice way to introduce your project to people as well.  Maybe create a quick Yodio and email it!?  Maybe it could work for you!

Video Presentations

Animoto is a program that

let's you make free, 30-

second videos (or longer for

paid subscription). Just upload your own images and text combined with a selection of free (or fee) music. This is a great way to build interest in your topic, especially if you are trying to create an emotional appeal!

iMovie is for the more Mac only,

but it's super-easy once you get

the hang of it! If you're ready for

something beyond the traditional options.  If this sounds like you, check it out!

This video-making tool allows

you to type your message for

your avatar(s) to read.  Their

computerized voices can surprisingly bring humor to otherwise dull topics.  Inserting these into your Glogster or manually presenting throughout your presentation could be fun.

Similar to Xtranormal, Voki

allows you to create an avatar

to speak for you. You will have to compare to see which one you like best.

Windows Movie Maker is a

great free tool for many novice

movie creators who want a

professional look.  This

sample isn't especially creative,

but it shows how you can add videos AND pictures and overlay with music

Zoho takes slideshows to a new

level. WIth interactive, moving

parts, your slideshow will be fun to watch. You'll make the other presentations look like child's play!

Mixed Media

Click the titles to go to the site; click the images to see examples.

Glogster allows you to upload

videos, clipart, text, and

images to create cool online

posters! They're a unique way

to tie everything together if

you have a lot of mediums in which to present your info, and during a presentation, you can go through them AT YOUR PACE!

This site offers an authentic-

looking newspaper image

generator might be used for your

project or presentation. Images

can be downloaded, saved, and

printed. Other options on this site

are: a clapper board, a cigarette

pack... Check it out!

A great site for word clouds,

though Wordle is good too if

you like more traditional word

clouds, Tagxedo can fill

symbolic shapes and even

your own photo with relevant words.  A great cover page, slide photo, display, or even something you could put on an item to sell for fundraising!?

TimeGlider is relatively

new, and it's free for

students (though you can't anticipate more than 20 views/month). It has a rich interface with the ability to juggle a lot of information - so if a timeline is the very best way for you to present your info, you might like this one!

Many timelines are already created here, but you can make your own for free.  It's an online Timeline tool that allows you to detail (and present) your timeline without having to save it.
